  • Review of Correspondence
  • Nothing of significance received this week.

  • Review of Projects and Issues
Last Thursday night Selectman Burns & Selectman Emery met with a resident concerning a possible land donation to the town, and this Monday night they attended a State Senate Forum sponsored by Maine Municipal Association and the Twelve Town Group in Waterboro that lasted several hours.  Selectman Burns came in last Friday to help Chet Ouellette fix several of the windows at Town Hall that had broken springs.  Earlier today Selectman Burns returned a call to a resident who had a complaint.  Selectman Burns also mentioned that he received a rough proposal for work that may be done next year on the West Buxton Library.  He will be talking with the Trustees of the Library to let them know so they can submit that as part of their budget for the next fiscal year.

Selectman Booker reported filling out a portion of the questionnaire that was part of the Rural Living Assessment project.  She said she had to drive around some of the roads, measure, and figure out what was or was not there for signs and sent that back.

Selectman Booker talked about a gentleman who came in yesterday and was interested in renting space in the old Town Garage.  She said she explained to him that the garage is slated to be torn down sometime in this fiscal year.

Selectman Santolucito said he is continuing to review the town’s expenditures on a weekly basis.  He said that is useful and things appear to be in very good shape.  He talked about an invitation the Selectmen received from SAD 6 to attend a series of 4 meetings throughout the academic year.  The first meeting is going to be on November 18 and he plans to be at that meeting.  Selectman Santolucito said it is a meeting with school officials and Town officials to talk about some of the challenges and work together to create what we need in terms of delivering school services.

Selectman Emery spoke briefly about the meeting he and Selectman Burns had with the individual who is looking to donate land to the town.  On Friday Selectman Emery tried to contact our attorney but he was out of town then.

Selectman Emery said he called in and talked with Bev Gammon the first of this week.  There were two or three issues that needed to be resolved so he made some phone calls, talked to some individuals, and got those things straightened around.

Selectman Emery said he talked with our attorney last night about the land issue and he is setting up a meeting with that gentleman’s attorney, himself, and members of the Board.  They will be meeting soon.

This is the third year of a four-year plan approved at Town Meeting to update all property tax cards within the town.  Thus far we have completed half of the tax maps and we will do another quarter this year.  As part of this process, you may see an appraiser from Parker Appraisals looking at your property.  The appraisers have identification tags with them.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call Town Hall at 929-5191.

Our Hazardous Waste Collection Day will be Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 10:00 AM ~ 2:00 PM at the Buxton Transfer Station, for Buxton residents only.  For more information, you can contact Greg Heffernan, Transfer Station Manager at 929-3913.

Selectman Burns said residents should be requesting their stickers, and when they go to the Transfer Station if the attendant forgets to suggest to them to get it, Greg Heffernan will issue them.
